Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. For a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen came to this loving refuge on the 17th of August 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is the mother of her. She was a skilled contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the renowned Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons is the second child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons The rest of the family rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen was a star athlete and was a lover of rough play. Furthermore her talent, she also had a knack for acting. It was evident by her winning pretty much every Feis awards for drama and performances in the theater that her nation offered. At the age of 14 she enrolled in at the Abbey Theater to follow her dream and study classical theatre and operatic vocals.
